Methamphetamine addiction has become a global problem in today’s times, especially in the developing and developed parts of the world. This drug is slowly replacing other drugs like heroin and cocaine in the popularity stakes and is slowly becoming the number one drug used in rave parties and individual recreational usage.

Methamphetamine is an amphetamine drug which is very immediately addictive to the human brain. The euphoria caused by methamphetamine lasts longer than that of other drugs, and is also felt in a much more pronounced way than the other drugs. In the world of its users, methamphetamine is known by several other names such as meth, crystal meth, speed, quick, M, etc.

It is noted that the health effects of a meth addiction are much more drastic and quickly felt than the health effects of other drugs. Meth can immediately affect the heart. In fact, there have been many incidences of first time users of methamphetamine getting heart attacks. The substances used in the manufacture of methamphetamine only increase this probability. Meth is used from everyday ingredients like battery acid, lantern fluid, drain cleaner and antifreeze, each of them toxic and lethal in its own way.

The high caused by methamphetamine addiction directly affects the brain and benumbs it from thinking on any rational perspective. The high is also very closely associated with a sexual high, because people who use meth become sexually hyperactive at least till as much time as the meth addiction lasts. This may increase the occurrences of unprotected sex among users, causing a spurt in the cases of lethal infections such as AIDS.
