If you do a bit of study on the kinds of treatment that are available for alcohol addiction in Michigan, you will find that there are two types of detox programs. These are the inpatient detox program and the outpatient detox program. Why are these two programs different and who are eligible for them? Here are some answers.
The outpatient detox program is done at the home of the patient but the patient will have to visit a treatment center several times a week so that the condition can be monitored. This is an allowable method of treatment for people who are still not deeply into an addiction and still have control over their mental faculties. Also, there must not be any visible health complications caused due to the use of alcohol yet. Every treatment center in Michigan has a provision for outpatient alcohol detox and even some general practitioners’ clinics will provide the treatment, but you have to think whether this will be an effective method of treatment for you.
But if you have been with an alcohol addiction for a long amount of time, then you will need to take admission in an inpatient alcohol detox program in Michigan, whether there are visible health problems in you or not. This is because you will face withdrawal symptoms when you abstain from the substance and they will be too difficult for you to handle on your own. These have to be handled under medical supervision only.
Hence, you need to think what kind of detox program will be suitable according to your individual condition because not all treatment methods are meant for everybody.
